Travel Files: Columbus

Thanks to my sometimes fantastic job, I get the chance to travel on a whim. When it comes to traveling, I tend to fly by the seat of my pants and end up being really spontaneous. So when one of my best friends (aka Carrie from Cardigans and Crossbones) in Columbus decided to get married a month ago and have a low-key celebration, I knew I wanted to fly out to be there.

I also have the tendency to take the shortest trips ever, just to fit it into my crazy schedule. Back in the day, I used to fly around the country just to go to concerts, especially if I had friends in that city that were also planning to go. Twenty-four hour trips ended up becoming a thing of mine, where I’d literally fly somewhere really early in the morning and fly home twenty-four hours later. I’d jam as many things as I could into my one day in town and although it was sometimes super hectic, it made for a really great day.

As per usual, even considering the fact that I had managed to over-pack for a twenty-four trip, the first stop I ended up making after picking up my cute little rental car was the nearest mall. Now Columbus is no Chicago, that’s for sure, but I have to say that I really was impressed with the Easton Town Centre. Only a short ten minute drive from the airport, Easton Town Centre had everything my little shopaholic heart could’ve asked for all within a few minutes walk from each other, complete with the cutest fountain in the center of a traffic circle which almost made it seem like we were in the heart of Europe instead of Ohio.

A few hours later and about a hundred dollars poorer, I was ready to start getting ready for my bestie’s wedding celebration. Luckily enough, she told me ahead of time that it was going to be really casual and outdoors, so I already had three possible outfits prepared. It took me about a half hour to finally settle on which outfit to wear and then another forty-five to actually get my hair and makeup looking decent. Not too shabby when I was only running on about an hour’s worth of sleep.

Dress: Anthropologie – Pins & Needles (I love this one!) | Cardigan: Old Navy | Wedges: Payless
Earrings: Charlotte Russe | Necklace: Dots (I love these! 1/2)

This navy sundress by Pins & Needles from Anthropologie is one of my favorite pieces to wear during the summer, because it’s so versatile. Add some cute heels, a glam statement necklace and a cropped cardigan (just in case you get cold, like I always do!) for a dressy look or just swap the heels for strappy sandals and throw on a jean jacket for a casual vibe. And considering I picked this gem up at my favorite secondhand clothing boutique for about $10 (shoutout to Crossroads Trading Co.), what’s not to love about it?

Speaking of things I love, I absolutely adored these white peep-toe wedges from Payless! They were super comfy and come in wide widths, which is a huge plus for me. That, Payless’ American Eagle brand and their collaboration with Christian Siriano are just a few of the reasons I keep coming back. Getting my hands on a pair of the black version of these wedges is next on my to-do list, by the way, because those are just as gorgeous!

All in all, it was a fantastic twenty-four hours in Columbus, full of all my favorite things. How can you go wrong with jetsetting, seeing friends and shopping? Have you guys ever done a twenty-four hour trip for fun? Tell me all about it in the comments!
