Make a Statement (Necklace)

One of my favorite things about styling outfits for myself or my friends is accessorizing! There’s nothing better than taking a favorite outfit that you’ve rocked so many times and infusing some freshness into it, giving you endless combinations and an excuse to keep buying those jewelry pieces that catch your eye. Today’s post is all about taking a plain dress and transforming it into a whole new look, with the help of a statement necklace.

If you follow me on Snapchat (I’m divineviolets on there, in case you don’t!) or Instagram, you might remember how I did a collaborative photoshoot with some of my favorite #bloggerbabes in Chicago a few weeks ago. It was such a fantastic day and those collabs are one of the best parts about being part of this tight-knit blogger community. I shot quite a few looks that day, but this collection has to be one of my overall favorites. My friend Dannie from Stile.Foto.Cibo and I partnered with one of our favorites, Erin Leary from BeBuddha Jewelry to bring you two of the most gorgeous statement necklaces ever!

Each of Erin’s beautiful pieces are handmade, full of bold colors, unique jewels and amazing little trinkets, like skulls, gold spikes and silk tassels! I had the chance to slay these fabulous, pink silk tassel earrings with another outfit you’ll see on the blog soon and I can’t even begin to put into words how in love I was with them. Honestly, they’ll take your outfit to another level you didn’t even know was possible. If you haven’t already checked out her stuff, you need to right now. I only have amazing things to say about Erin and her BeBuddha Jewelry line.

As for my outfit, I took a rather plain, navy shift dress that I scored at Marshall’s for under $10 and paired it with my favorite black strappy bootie sandals from Torrid to give the look an edgy vibe. To really amp up my outfit, I picked the statement necklace from Erin’s collection in a similar color profile to make the neckline more interesting. Even though it looks a little heavy, I was surprised to find that it was actually pretty light and really comfortable to wear. I absolutely love the big jewels in the center of the necklace and in my opinion, it draws your eyes right to it! And that’s always a good thing. All eyes should always be on you!

I’ve linked to a few of my favorite blue flowy shift dresses and strappy bootie sandals down below, since both my dress and booties are out of season.
